After decades of energy cooperation that was seen beneficial for both Helsinki and Moscow, Finland’s energy ties with Russia are now all but gone.
Natural gas accounts for about eight percent of Finland's energy consumption and most of it comes from Russia.

However, both Niniisto and Marin stressed that it was important for the Parliament to weigh in on the NATO bid, described by the Finnish head of state as "historic".
