Police detain students for organising event for welcoming ex-Prof after Bombay HC order
The protest was organised after the Supreme Court suspended a Bombay High Court order acquitting Saibaba and others in a Maoist-links case.
The HC on Friday set aside their convictions. When contacted for reaction, Sathianathan told PTI that he was asked not to appear in the case three months ago.
The matter regarding Saibaba's termination is already in court, says Ram Lal Anand College principal, adding that the college cannot take up the matter of his reinstation on its own.
The Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court on Friday acquitted Saibaba in an alleged Maoist links case and ordered his immediate release from jail.
Narote, Saibaba and four others were sentenced to life imprisonment in March 2017 under various sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for Maoist links.
