The meeting comes ahead of the Supreme Court hearing Chidambaram's bail application in the INX Media corruption case.
The CBI Friday told the Supreme Court that 15 accused, including Chidambaram, his son Karti and some companies have been chargesheeted in the case.
Chidambaram, 74, was arrested by the CBI on August 21 and is lodged in Tihar jail under judicial custody in the corruption case.
The apex court, while denying anticipatory bail to P Chidambaram in the INX Media case, said it must be left to the discretion of the investigating agency to decide the course of the probe.
Chidambaram was brought to the special court hours after he withdrew his petition challenging the non-bailable warrant issued against him following which he was sent to the CBI custody.
Karti approached the authority saying an appeal in this regard was already pending before appellate authority, PMLA and ED's directions on Wednesday were a violation of law.
INX Media Ltd, which was owned by Mukerjea, had allegedly paid bribes to get a Foreign Investment Promotion Board approval, which was facilitated by ex finance minister P Chidambaram's son.
Karti's father and former Finance Minister P Chidambaram and his wife Nalini Chidambaram were also present in the court wearing black gowns.
Karti, the son of former Union minister P Chidambaram, had moved the high court seeking bail, hours after a court here sent him to judicial custody till March 24.
Justice Kaur, who did not give any reason for her recusal, said she would refer the matter to the Acting Chief Justice for assigning the bail plea to another bench for today itself.
