Celebrations broke out outside the Rajasthan BJP headquarters in Jaipur and the party workers burst firecrackers and distributed sweets as Murmu emerged victorious in the presidential poll.
Murmu won by an overwhelming margin against Sinha, receiving over 64 per cent valid votes cast by MPs and MLAs, comprising the electoral college, to become the country's 15th president.
According to sources, 17 MPs have cross-voted in the Presidential elections, in favour of Droupadi Murmu.
