Rising breakthrough infections and the fear of post-Covid complications have made the healthcare community anxious, to an extent, about getting infected again as the antibody level wanes.
“As children are not eligible for vaccination, and schools have reopened for Class 6 to 12 from August 15, testing was ramped up,” the Department of Health and Family Welfare Services stated.
The state was entitled to an allocation of 39,02,580 vaccine doses. However, the state was supplied with 61,36,720 doses in July, the Centre said.
The state will receive 38 lakh doses this month. Fifty lakh people above the age of 45 are yet to receive the first dose.
A few of the major reasons cited by the public for refusing to take tests or vaccines has been fear of death and side-effects.
Applications of candidates in the age group of 18-45 years are being rejected because they are not submitting certificate of comorbidities.
