Karnataka Legislative Council Chairman, Basavaraj Horatti (76), submitted his resignation on Monday both as MLC and as chairman of the Council. He was set to retire in six weeks.
Horatti said he has no misunderstanding with Deve Gowda or Kumaraswamy and has affection towards them. "I in fact spoke to Kumaraswamy, before making this decision."

Voting for the Legislative Council seats from the local authority constituencies was held in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday.
It is an opportunity for the saffron party to enjoy a majority in both the Houses of the Uttar Pradesh Legislature.
These seats are spread across 35 local authorities' constituencies. The biennial poll was earlier planned on two dates but now it will be conducted together on April 9.
