The Meghalaya High Court has directed the state government to draw plans for easing the traffic congestion in Shillong.

The judges said it may be necessary for external agencies not having any connection with the State to be brought in to put the house in order.

The three-member full bench of High Court took up the matter after its recent visit to East Jaintia Hills district along with Chief Secretary R V Suchiang to see in person the situation.

Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee was appointed the Chief Justice of Madras High Court in January 2021 and has not yet completed a year after being appointed the same.
The collegium which met on Tuesday said that it is not possible to accede to Tahilramani's request to reconsider her transfer to Meghalaya High Court.
