The catchment areas of the dam -- Periyar and Thekkady -- on Friday recorded 11mm and 13mm rainfall, respectively.
The Kerala government has nominated Irrigation chief engineer Alex Varghese as its representative in the Mullaperiyar Supervisory Committee.
The reconstituted committee will have one technical expert each from Kerala and Tamil Nadu, to be nominated within two weeks.
As per the order, surpervisory committee will be responsible for surveillance, inspection, operation and maintenance of the dam
The court has further directed the concerned ministry of the government of India to extend all logistical assistance to the Supervisory Committee to enable it to effectively discharge its functions
The Central government had suggested letting the current supervisory committee carry out operations until the National Dam Safety Authority becomes functional.

Last week, The Central government was asked to file a note explaining the establishment and scope of authority of the National Dam Safety Authority under the Dam Safety Act, 2021.
The top court asked about this when it was informed by the counsel representing the Central Water Commission about the Act suggesting its helpfulness in solving the Mullaperiyar dam dispute.
