Bombay HC asks Narayan Rane to file separate pleas for six FIRs against him over his 'slap CM' remarks
Union Minister Narayan Rane had filed a petition seeking to quash the cases lodged against him at Mahad, Nashik, Pune, Thane, Jalgaon and Ahmednagar.
The BJP leader arrived here, the headquarters of Raigad district located around 100km from Mumbai, at around 3 pm and went straight to the office of superintendent of police.
He said that the though BJP does not endorse Union minister Narayan Rane's 'slap' comments against Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, but the party stands with its leader.
Rane's lawyer Sandesh Chikne appeared in the office of the local crime branch inspector Dayanand Gavde on behalf of Rane.
A NCP minister said that after the Uddhav Thackeray meeting with PM Narendra Modi in Delhi, there was buzz that the Shiv Sena may take the U-turn and join the hand with BJP once again.
Rane was arrested and released on bail on Tuesday late at night over his "would have slapped" comments against Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray.
According to estimates, India imports over 80 per cent of its oil needs and more than 50 per cent of its gas requirement.
Rane was arrested for his statement against Uddhav and later released by the Mahad court, while the Bombay High Court granted relief to him till September 17 from coercive action by the state.
Earlier this week, Rane sparked off a row over his remarks about slapping CM Thackeray for what he claimed as the latter's ignorance of the year of India's independence.
The legislator said he approached the Kankavli police in Maharashtra's Sindhudurg district with his complaint on Wednesday, seeking that a case be registered against Jathar.
It also claimed that Rane has said Maharashtra can't fight the Centre since there is a BJP government.
At the centre of the ‘slap Thackeray’ controversy, Narayan Rane is an old Shiv Sainik who took several detours before finding a place in the BJP in 2019.
'Uddhav also called Home Minister Amit Shah shameless. He even said he was using unparliamentary words deliberately to describe Shah. What a civilised language,' the Union Minister said.
The route of Narayan Rane's tour will be the same and the date of its resumption will be conveyed soon, his aide Rajan Teli said in a statement.
