The committee has been formed as per the decision taken at the meeting between Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and his Andhra Pradesh counterpart YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on November 9.
Two States to set up an institutional mechanism for cooperation
Chief Ministers of the two states, Naveen Patnaik and Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy issued a joint statement to this effect at the end of their two-hour-long meeting in Bhubaneswar on Nov 9.
Recently, the Vamsadhara Water Disputes Tribunal has given permission for the construction of the Neradi barrage.
The chief ministers are likely to take up issues relating to the construction of Neradi barrage over river Vamsadhara, and the Polavaram multi-purpose project on river Godavari, officials said.
Construction of Neradi barrage across river Vamsadhara, Polavaram irrigation project and the status of Kotiya villages on the shared border would reportedly be high on the Chief Ministers' agenda.
CM Jagan Mohan Reddy also requested Union Jal Shakti Minister to take measures to set up interstate regulatory body, and review authority.
