In case, the election for MPP president and vice-president was not held for any reason at 3 pm, it will be held the next day.
The State Election Commissioner Nilah Sawhney issued a notification to conduct a special meeting for the election of Mayor and two Deputy Mayors in the Eluru Municipal Corporation on July 30.
All constitutional appointments were made considering the suitability of the officer, the State government told the Andhra High Court.
Within hours after assuming charge as the SEC, Sawhney who previously served as the state Chief Secretary, issued a notification late on Thursday night fixing April 8 as the date of election.
However, the then SEC N Ramesh Kumar issued a notification on March 15, withholding the election process due to the outbreak of Covid-19.

Former AP Chief Secretary Nilam Sawhney, who is presently Principal Advisor to the AP Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, is all set to become the new State Election Commissioner (SEC).
Sources said that though all the three retired bureaucrats enjoy good rapport with Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Nilam Sawhney may be the first option of the government for the SEC post.
