WATCH | Rare black tiger spotted in Odisha's Similipal National Park

In a rare sighting from Odisha's Similipal National Park, a black tiger was seen marking its territory. It was seen leaving scratch marks on a tree in the 15-second clip posted on Twitter. The clip was shared on Twitter by Indian Forest Service Officer Susanta Nanda. The video gained instant traction as Twitter users admired the rarely seen creature. Black tigers are not a separate species, but rather Bengal tigers that have a single-base mutation in a specific gene. This mutation causes the tigers' distinctive black stripes to enlarge and spread into the orange background. They are known as melanistic tigers.

Cyclone Asani Updates: Severe cyclonic storm to hit Andhra, Odisha; heavy rainfall from May 10

The IMD in its latest bulletin said the low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal will remain in the form of a cyclonic storm till May 8 evening and later intensify into a severe cyclonic storm which will continue till May 10 night. Reportedly, the coasts of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal will bear the brunt of it. Subsequently, Asani will lose steam in the sea and become another cyclonic storm on May 11 and 12.
