Power consumption and demand rose mainly because of severe heat and a spurt in economic activities, pushing commercial and industrial requirements for electricity in the country.
The demand increased by 2.8 per cent in the last 24 hours and 7.8 per cent since May 1.
Power consumption in April last year was recorded at 117.08 BU, which was higher than 84.55 BU in the same month of 2020.
