In February this year, the Orissa High Court had quashed the Lokayukta’s order for a probe by Directorate of Vigilance against Panigrahy in an alleged case of disproportionate assets.
The Vigilance's investigation revealed that Gopalpur MLA had made huge illegal gains as a public servant between May 24, 2009 and November 30, 2020.
Panigrahy’s counsel Pitambar Acharya told TNIE that, “The application has also sought dismissal of the SLP along with punitive and exemplary costs on the petitioner”.
The petition has reportedly sought contempt proceedings against Lokayukta Chairman Justice Ajit Singh and Secretary Manas Tripathy.
Gopalpur MLA Pradeep Panigrahy can now walk out of jail with the Orissa HC granting him bail in the last case related to the alleged job scam.
The former minister has been in judicial custody since CID Crime Branch (CB) of Odisha Police arrested him on December 3 last year in connection with an alleged job scam.
