Theatres have been permitted to open from October 15 based on the Central government's Unlock guidelines
All Shops, establishments, individual units, and private offices would remain closed and no transportation except that permitted by the government will be allowed.
Puducherry Health Minister said that teams will be constituted to visit every household and take census of people aged above 60 and children below 10 years and conduct covid testing on them.
As many as 2,587 COVID-19 patients are admitted to hospitals, while 2,264 are in home quarantine.
Out of 2,616 persons undergoing treatment in hospitals, 2,274 are in Puducherry region, 161 in Karaikal GH, 181 in Yanam GH and four in Mahe.
Four of the victims suffered from other comorbities like diabetes and hypertension and the fifth victim was brought from Murungapakkam, was brought dead who later tested positive for the virus.
As many as 2,185 patients have been treated and discharged including 85 on Saturday.
Dr S Mohan Kumar, Director of Health and Family Welfare said the infection rate is 17.9 percent with 91 testing positive in a sample of 521 and the fatality rate is 1.4 percent.
Releasing the information, Dr S Mohan Kumar, Director of Health and Family Welfare said that among the new cases, 82 cases are in Puducherry region and 11 in Karaikal region.
Presently 804 persons are undergoing treatment, of which 688 are in Puducherry region (398 at IGMCRI, 197 at JIPMER and 93 in COVID care centres).
Presently, 793 persons are undergoing treatment, of which 684 are in Puducherry, 74 in Karaikal, and 35 in Yanam.
Young children and elderly are highly vulnerable to the virus and should stay indoors, Dr Kumar added stating that people should avoid venturing out unneccesarily at a time like this.
In all 889 patients have been discharged after recovery including 60 patients on Wednesday.
Puducherry plans to enhance COVID-19 testing to 3,000 samples per lakh population as cases reach 1,531
As many as 63 fresh cases of COVID-19 were reported in Puducherry on Tuesday taking the total number of cases to 1,531.
Presently, 2,149 samples per lakh population is being tested in Puducherry, 1,828 in Karaikal, 2,354 in Yanam and 2,560 in Mahe as compared to national average of 1, 505 samples per lakh population.
