In terms of categories, the RAI survey found that the jewellery segment had a significant recovery with a growth of 24 per cent as compared to sales levels in October 2019.
As compared to September 2020, there was a 26 per cent growth in sales last month, led by strong growth in South India at 33 per cent, followed by East at 30 per cent, and 26 per cent in West.
However, the June performance was far better compared to May when the overall retail business in India declined by 79 per cent as compared to the same month in 2019.
Passenger vehicle retail sales rose to 1,84,134 units last month against 85,733 units in May this year as the COVID-19 situation improved across the country.
The quick service restaurants witnessed a dip of 70 per cent, while spending on apparel and clothing plunged 77 per cent and purchases of sports good fell 80 per cent.
