In a major boost to safety of women passengers, the South Western Railway Zone has put in place 340 CCTVs across railway stations.
The first such display-cum-awareness centre was launched at Channapatna railway station in Karnataka on Monday.
Briefing newspersons on the budget, Deputy General Manager and Chief Public Relations Officer, SWR, E Vijaya said, "This is our highest allocation since the Zone was formed in 2003."
The industrialist said that he remains hopeful that the situation will improve to allow the company's job creation plans in the engineering sector for both markets.
