The Medha Patkar-led Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) organized a Jan Sunvai (public hearing), where the protesting villagers raised their key concerns.
The indefinite protest is being led by NBA leader Medha Patkar, who has been fighting for the last 34 years, initially against the construction of the dam and now for rehabilitation of the villagers.
The petitioners said the SSD being an inter-state project, terms and conditions of the award were binding on Gujarat, MP and Maharashtra.
The petitioners said they are affected by submergence in Sardar Sarovar due to direction given by the Narmada Control Authority.
PM Modi visited Kevadiya village to take part in the 'Namami Narmada' festival celebrated by the Gujarat government to mark the filling up of the dam to its full reservoir level.
This change of schedule has disturbed the relief and rehabilitation works underway in the areas submerged under the dam water in four districts, the Madhya Pradesh Home Minister said.
Accompanied by Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, Modi offered prayers as part of the state government's Namami Devi Narmade Mahotsav celebrations.
The rise in water level has prompted authorities to issue an alert for villages along the river's banks in Narmada, Bharuch and Vadodara districts.
Heavy showers lashed several areas of Saurashtra and south Gujarat on Wednesday, officials said, adding that the state has so far received 116.59 per cent of the season's average annual rainfall.
Among Medha Patkar's demands was opening of the sluice gates of the Dam, since rising backwater has flooded areas around Barwani.
