With COVID-19, the situation for women human rights defenders and the prospects for women's full participation in building peace, has become “vastly worse”, Michelle Bachelet said.
Michelle Bachelet urged countries to enact “a wide range of reparations measures” as part of efforts to address the legacies of slavery, colonial rule and racial discrimination.
Michelle Bachelet, in a video statement, called on all states to end impunity, to listen to the voices of people of African descent and to confront past legacies and deliver redress.
The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights criticised both Yangon and New Delhi, the latter for seeking to deport Rohingyas who fled to India.
