COVID-19: Uttarakhand records 922 more backlog deaths since first wave

As per law, hospitals need to report deaths within 24 hours but with these deaths being reported by hospitals much later on daily basis cites that they missed those somehow.

Uttarakhand: Over 40 per cent 'missing' COVID fatalities now being reported as 'backlog deaths'

Of the total 923 deaths reported in the last six days in the daily Covid bulletin, 384 of them are 'backlog deaths', accounting for 42 per cent deaths due to the virus.

Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Om Prakash said that the major reason for the rise in death rate in the state is that people, who are reaching the hospital after contracting the virus, are critical.
