Over 89,000 commuters have travelled in Delhi’s electric buses since they were flagged off by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, an official statement said on Friday.
With the addition of these buses, the total number of buses in Delhi has gone up to 7,205 and these buses include 3,912 DTC buses and 3,293 buses are of cluster.
The government is likely to flag off nearly 100 electric buses by next week, officials said on Wednesday.
Of the 100 e-buses, 50 will ply on Tirumala-Tirupati ghat road and the remaining will ply to Nellore, Kadapa and Madanapalle as intercity buses.
The APSRTC had earlier decided to introduce 350 electric buses in Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, Guntur and Tirupati cities on the Gross Cost Contract or hire basis.
