Bengaluru flooded after overnight rain; wall collapses, streets waterlogged

Heavy rainfall battered Bengaluru on Oct 19, with downpours resulting in waterlogging in several parts of the city. Metro's retaining wall collapsed near Seshadripuram, leading to several cars and bikes being damaged. The IMD has issued a yellow rainfall alert predicting a few spells of rain or thundershowers over the next 24 hours.

Five members of a family die in landslide in Thodupuzha

Five members of a family were killed in a landslide that occurred at Kudayathoor near Thodupuzha in the Idukki district following the heavy rain that lashed early morning on Monday. The house of Soman of Maliyekkal Colony, Sangaman Junction, Kudayathoor vanished without a trace, as huge rocks and earth fell on it following the landslide.

Pakistan battles worst monsoon floods in a decade; over 1000 deaths recorded

Over 33 million people have been affected in Pakistan as the country faces the worst rain-induced flooding in its history. At least 1,061 people have died while 1,527 have been injured since June 14 from the rains and floods.Over 110 districts of Pakistan have been hit by the floods with 72 of those districts declaring calamity hit.

Flash floods wreck havoc in Himachal, triggers landslides;CM visits affected areas

Over 30 people died and 36 incidents of landslides and flash floods triggered by heavy rainfall have been recorded across Himachal Pradesh as on August 23. The Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Response Force on August 23 said that Dharamshala has broken the record of heavy rains in 64 years.The State Disaster Management Department said maximum damage was reported from Mandi, Kangra and Chamba districts.

Assam's Silchar still under water for seventh day; CM reviews situation on rubber boat

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took a ride on a rubber boat to assess the flood situation at Silchar. He called the flood a man-made disaster. Further, he has instructed officials to file a case with the police to probe on the breach of embankment. Although, the floodwater seems to be receding in a few districts, over 25 lakh people are still affected. The current death toll stand at 126.

'Water, water everywhere...': Silchar town in Assam submerged by floods

Following incessant rains in Assam, Silchar town in the Cachar district has been submerged in flood waters on June 22. Families continue to be stranded in their waterlogged homes, and the town is facing a massive shortage of food and drinking water. Electricity has also been cut off in several parts of the town. Further, poor mobile network connectivity is hampering rescue operations.

WATCH | Flood, landslides wreak havoc in Assam; 9 killed, over 6 lakh affected

Inclement weather and incessant rain caused massive landslides and waterlogging at several locations in #Assam. Landslides triggered by heavy rain snapped rail and road links to Barak Valley and Dima Hasao district of Assam and neighbouring states of Tripura, Mizoram and Manipur. The IMD has predicted that “extremely heavy rains” will continue for the coming days as Assam stay on ‘red alert.’ Over 6 lakh people across 26 districts have been affected by floods.

Heavy rains across Kerala; major dams in Pathanamthitta filled to capacity

Kerala has been witnessing heavy rains since Friday night owing to the low pressure formations in the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal. Pathanamthitta is witnessing heavy rains akin to the heavy showers during the 2018 floods. Major dams in the district have been filled to their capacity.

New Delhi records highest rainfall in 46 years, orange alert issued

The highest rainfall in 46 years led to traffic snarls and waterlogging in several areas, including the Indira Gandhi International Airport, where the entrance to the Terminal 3 building and parts of the runway were flooded early on Saturday morning, September 11, 2021.
