On July 20 this year, India banned exports of non-basmati white rice to boost domestic supply and keep retail prices under check during the upcoming festive season.
Last month, India banned the export of rice to control soaring prices in the domestic market.
India had announced a ban on rice exports on July 20 in a bid to control increase in prices. A month later, it has decided to export rice to Singapore to help it meet its food security requirements.

Non-basmati white rice constitutes about 25 per cent of total rice exported from the country.
