Assam battles Japanese Encephalitis: All you need to know

In the aftermath of the floods, Assam is now battling against an outbreak of JE. At least 27 people have died of the disease between July 1 to 16 this year. Altogether 169 cases have been reported during the period. The state health department has directed the district administrations to set up rapid response teams in a bid to curb the disease from spreading. The tests for JE are available free of cost in all district hospitals and government medical colleges and hospitals.
