Heatwave grips India as mercury nears 45°C, Prayagraj hottest

Heatwave conditions prevailed on April 19 as the temperature crossed the 40°C mark in most parts of the country. The temperature in several states has touched over 44°C, and in many places, schools have been shut. Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, has been the hottest place in the country for the last two days, with temperatures reaching 44.2°C. IMD said that, both West Bengal and Bihar are likely to experience heatwave conditions in some parts and severe heatwave conditions in isolated areas for the next 24 hours.
