Google celebrates Foucault's 194th birthday with interactive doodle

Google is celebrating Léon Foucault’s 194th birthday with an interactive doodle illustrating the  Foucault pendulum.

Jean Bernard Léon Foucault is known for the invention of the Foucault pendulum, a device demonstrating the effect of the Earth's rotation. 

The French physicist is also credited with naming the gyroscope and discovering the eddy current phenomenon.

The asteroid 5668 Foucault is named after him and his name is one of the 72 names inscribed on the Eiffel Tower.
