COLOMBO: Bollywood icon Salman Khan, who was here on Sunday to attend a charity medical camp organised by President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s son Namal Rajapaksa, had described the Sri Lankan President as amazing, compassionate and humble.
“The President is an amazing man and he is one of the most humble people that I have met. He is a man of compassion,” Salman told Daily Mirror. Asked if he was on a political mission and if his participation in Namal Rajapaksa’s socio-political organization “Tharunyata Hetak” meant that he was backing the President in the January 8 election, Salman said, “Through my charity I want to help people. Through this camp we will be doing cataract operations and giving more medical assistance to the people. This is what we do. There is nothing political.”
Salman went on to remark that he saw a “lot of change” in Sri Lanka. He had been here before to participate in the IIFA function five years ago and had shot the film “Ready” here in the island. He attributed the change to Rajapaksa who he said is a “man of will.”
