Kentucky Fried Chicken released a statement worldwide after a customer in US claimed that he found a deep fried rat in his takeaway.
"This image is from the US and is unrelated to KFC in India. KFC takes customer claims very seriously, and they are investigating this matter. KFC chicken tenders often vary in size and shape, and there is no evidence to support this claim. We have extended the opportunity to have an independent lab evaluate the product at our own expense, but the customer refuses to provide the product in question," KFC stated.
Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) was trolled extensively across social media after a man in US claimed that he found a deep fried rat in his takeaway.
Devorise Dixon said he spotted a 'tail' in a strangely shaped chicken bread which he purchased from the California outlet of the fast food chain. He said when he made a closer inspection, it turned out to be a fried rat.
The customer has also posted the pictures on Facebook which sparked off a wide-spread debate.
Dixon also claimed that he went back to the outlet and the manager, on realizing that it was a rat, apologised to him.
His Facebook post reads: "It sent deep chills throughout my whole body! I’ve been feeling weird ever since. It's time for a lawyer, be safe don't eat fast food!" He has also posted a video on the social networking site.
However, according to KFC’s statement, “A customer has made a serious claim against KFC in the US and refuses to cooperate in the investigation. The images the customer originally posted do not include this second angle because it clearly shows it’s a piece of hand-breaded white meat chicken. Based on this, and the fact that he refuses to allow anyone to see the product, KFC US is left to believe that he intended to deceive the public with this hoax and are considering all options.”
After much inspection, KFC shared a magnified version of the same image pointing at the white meat suggesting that it is nothing but a rat-shaped chicken.
