Bangladesh Court Upholds Opposition Leaders' Death Sentences

Bangladesh\'s highest court on Wednesday upheld the death sentences of two opposition leaders convicted for wartime atrocities, Attorney General Mabubebey Alam said.

BANGLADESH: Bangladesh's highest court on Wednesday upheld the death sentences of two opposition leaders convicted for wartime atrocities, Attorney General Mabubebey Alam said.

Alam told reporters the Supreme Court had dismissed the final appeals of Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid, a top Islamist leader, and Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury, a key figure in main opposition party, clearing the way for their execution within weeks.
