PESHAWAR: Four militants were shot dead today during an anti-terror raid by the police in Pakistan's northwestern restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The police carried out a counter-terrorism raid in a Mainai area of Swabi district after getting information about the terrorists in the area, said police officer Javeed Iqbal.

The terrorists had taken refuge in a house and the militants lobbed grenades and opened fire on the forces as they raided the house.

As result, four terrorists were killed in the encounter.

Two of them were from Peshawar, one from Khyber Agency and the fourth one was from Swabi.

At least 35 suspects were taken into custody, said Iqbal. Search operation was underway in the area.
