KABUL: At least 10 foreign tourists were killed and five others injured in an attack in Afghanistan's Herat on Thursday.

"Two mini buses carrying foreign tourists were attacked by gunmen on the main road in Chishti Sharif district," a senior official told Xinhua news agency.

Details about the nationalities of the victims were not available immediately.

The official said the buses were travelling from Bamyan to Herat province, 640 km west of Kabul.
