Porsche car driven by the 17-year-old Vedant Agarwal, who the police claim was drunk at the time after consuming liquor at a bar, knocked down two motorbike riders in Kalyani Nagar, Pune in the early hours of Sunday, causing their death.

The victims, who were killed in the road accident, were identified as Anish Awadhiya and Ashwini Kostha, both 24 and software engineers. They were natives of Madhya Pradesh, but working in Pune.

The car, which didn't have a registration number, crashed into the roadside pavement railings after knocking down the duo.

A video, which surfaced on social media, showed a group of people thrashing the driver as he tried to wriggle out of the crashed car.

Vishal Agarwal, an influential builder, who is the father of Vedant has been booked under sections 75 and 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act on the charges of allowing his underage son to drive and consume liquor. Besides, the Pune police have arrested three hotel executives for allegedly serving alcohol to the juvenile.

"The CCTV footage of the bar clearly shows that the juvenile was consuming alcohol. There is no doubt that the juvenile was driving the car after consuming alcohol. We will be submitting all these facts to the court," police commissioner Amitesh Kumar earlier said.
