WhatsApp to bring business solutions for its Indian customers

WhatsApp is now working on solutions to enable businesses in India such as banks and utilities to use its platform to connect with its consumers during the year.

NEW DELHI: WhatsApp is now working on solutions to enable businesses in India such as banks and utilities to use its platform to connect with its consumers during the year.

“... we are definitely in building the product,” WhatsApp spokesperson Matt Steinfeld said.

The app now owned by media giant Facebook had been testing tools to help businesses to communicate with other businesses and customers.

It is testing the system in banks and a few airlines companies.The firms reiterated that, as per its policy, it has no plans to introduce any third-party ads. However, it will continue to explore methods to monetise the platform and has been working with businesses in India as well as globally.

Steinfeld  said that India as a market and resource centre is expected to play a crucial role in its efforts to monetize from the platform.

He noted that there are 200 million WhatsApp users in India and the app shall will remain free for its users.

“India is obviously our largest market and it’s going to be one of the most important markets,” Steinfeld added.
