NEW DELHI: Jet Airways on Tuesday joined other budget airlines in offering huge discounts to its passengers even after Diwali. In the domestic airline sector, during the Diwali week, Jet Airways had already matched its fares with those of other low-cost airlines such as SpiceJet and Vistara. But now the airline has decided to extend the discounts beyond the festival. Under its special offer, the airline will provide attractive discounts of up to 20 percent on air tickets booked during the period from October 17 to 25, 2017. The travellers in the domestic sector can avail these special discounts only if they are planning to travel on or after November 1. The special limited-period scheme will be applicable both on domestic as well as international flights.
In a statement on Tuesday, Jet Airways said that people booking tickets for international travel can immediately proceed to enjoy benefits of the special offer. “Under the Diwali 2017 scheme, flyers will be offered discounts of up to 20 per cent on premiere fares and up to 10 per cent on economy fares while booking for travel on the airline’s domestic as well as international network,” Jet Airways said. The offer is applicable for both one-way and return journeys. The airline caters to 44 destinations in India and 20 abroad.
Commenting on the sale, Jet Airways chief commercial officer Jayaraj Shanmugam said, “Diwali is celebrated with great fervour across the entire nation. This offer is Jet Airways’ special way of spreading and sharing the festive spirit with our guests... We are confident that our guests will avail these lucrative fares that will provide them significant savings on their travel bookings.”
Other airlines which are offering discounted fares even beyond Diwali are SpiceJet, IndiGo, Vistara, Air India and AirAsia. SpiceJet’s Diwali airfare sale is applicable for travel period between October 16, 2017-April 11, 2018. Earlier, soon-to-be privatised also rolled out a special 10 percent discount for bookings made on Air India’s web and mobile app for domestic travel in economy and business class between October 13 and December 15 this year. The offer, though, will not be valid for travel on October 21-23.
