India is the world’s second largest mobile phone market by volume. The smartphone market has changed drastically, from cheaper ones to those with better cameras.

According to an Economic Times report, Indians spent more than Rs 50,000 crore in the 2018 Fiscal Year on four Chinese brand smartphones -- Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo and Honor.

The introduction of good-quality yet more affordable phones is the main reason behind the hike in sales of Chinese smartphones. According to analysts, the trend is going to rise in the next few years as already more than half of the smartphones sold in India are the Chinese-made ones such as Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, Honor, Lenovo's Motorola and One Plus.

India stands to gain from the Chinese investors through the policy of 'Make in India', thus creating more jobs for the locals. Vivo employs more than 5000 people in their manufacturing plant, on the other hand, Oppo has set up two manufacturing units in Noida and Uttar Pradesh.

The report further said that  the combined sales of the four Chinese smartphone company amounted to Rs 51,722.1 crore from a mere Rs 26,262.4 crore in FY 2017.

A Huawei India spokesperson said that Honor smartphone brand has registered unprecedented growth of 281% in the first half of 2018.

The launch of new phones by One Plus (One Plus 6T), sub-brands like Pocophone by Xiaomi and Realme by Oppo will make sure that the market trend remains.
