City's best tubes tickle

You might be funny or might dance exceptionally well, but are you YouTube famous yet? Some of the biggest celebrity names on the stand-up platform in the country today made their small beginnings with a video that went viral. Anirudh Chakravarthy take a look at some of the best channels born out of B'luru.

Enthu Cutlets

Started by Varun Agarwal in 2014, the author of the bestselling novel ‘How I Braved Anu Aunty And Co-founded A Million Dollar Company’, the channel has 38,000 subscribers. It is known for its comedy sketches like  Anu Aunty, Mime Through Bollywood and Auto  na mila.  Agarwal is also an entrepreneur who has founded three companies so far - Alma Mater,  Reticular and Last Minute Films.

Kanan Gill

Gill is one of the most famous YouTubers in India. This  Bengaluru bloke started off with his channel Pretentious Movie Reviews, which has so far garnered nearly 4 lakh subscribers. Along with his friend Biswa Kalyan Rath, he reviews old classic Bollywood movies, with their own hilarious take. Gill has bagged a movie role alongside Sonakshi Sinha in Sunhil Sippy’s upcoming flick ‘Noor’.

Kenny Sebastian

Kenny makes funny videos on Indian culture and ethos, parodies stereotypes and points out hypocrisy in his stand-up comedy videos. A student of art who turned into a comedian has a home in Bengaluru despite his move to Mumbai recently. He has also produced a YouTube series titled Star Boyz. He has over 3 lakh subscribers

Biswa Kalyan Rath

His ‘don’t-give-a-damn’ attitude while reviewing Hindi movies with Kannan Gill on Pretentious Movie Reviews has garnered all of our giggles. This boy from Odisha quit his IT job in Bengaluru to take up comedy full time later on.

Them Boxer Shorts

The channel ecompasses an offbeat comic style incepted by a group of college friends.  It has 17,000 subscribers. Naveen Richard, Mani Prasad, Rahul Hota and Aravind Anil Kumar started the channel with a mockumentary about four bumbline chefs. The group also came up with the succesful YouTube series  -- Better Life Foundation -- that draws a stark similarity to the American sitcom ‘The Office’.

Sumukhi Suresh

She is an upcoming YouTuber, who recently shot to fame with her role in Better Life Foundaion. She has produced content for Them Boxer Shorts, Enthu Cutlets and Kanan Gill . Some of her  sketches include Girliyapa and the Happy Housewife  that connects with a majority of the female audience. She joined the community on Sep 10, 2009.
