Multiplex ticket price cap before month-end: Chief Minister

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s budget promise of enforcing a `200 cap on the price of cinema tickets in multiplexes will be a reality this month itself.

BENGALURU: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s budget promise of enforcing a `200 cap on the price of cinema tickets in multiplexes will be a reality this month itself.

Admitting to the delay in implementing the budget proposal, Siddaramaiah on Tuesday said that it would be implemented before the end of this month (April) and the necessary government order would be issued within the next few days.

It may be recalled that some movie exhibitors in the city had expressed their displeasure at the proposal to peg the cinema ticket price. The delay in implementing the proposal had raised doubts in the minds of the moviegoers and the members of Karnataka Film Chamber representatives about the commitment of the government to implement it.

Replying to a question about the ongoing debate in the Kannada film industry against allowing dubbing of other language films into Kannada, the chief minister said the government has no specific policy about the issue.
