Drunk men assault, bite off cop’s finger, arrested

Two men, who were in a heavily inebriated condition, were arrested in Kodigehalli on charges of assaulting a police constable and biting off his middle finger in the wee hours of Sunday.

BENGALURU: Two men, who were in a heavily inebriated condition, were arrested in Kodigehalli on charges of assaulting a police constable and biting off his middle finger in the wee hours of Sunday.
According to the police, Sub-inspector Shivraj and constable Shantalinga were patrolling in Kodigehalli. At 1.15am, they saw two men — Roshan Raja and Girish - screaming in front of a bar. They were reportedly under the influence of alcohol.

The policemen told the duo to stop screaming. When they did not heed, the policemen repeated their instructions. Then Roshan attacked Shantalinga, tore his uniform and bit the middle finger of his right hand. Following the incident, both were arrested and taken into custody. Constable Shantalinga had to be treated for the bite wound on his finger at Yelahanka General Hospital.Roshan, an employee at a private firm, is a resident of Malleswaram while Girish, a daily-wage worker, is from Amruthahalli.
Kodigehalli police have registered a case.
