Ten-year-old pillion rider dies in crash in Bengaluru

 A 10-year-old boy died on the spot while his neighbour sustained severe injuries after their speeding bike rammed into a truck on Bandi Mahakaliamma temple street at Gavipuram on Monday.

BENGALURU: A 10-year-old boy died on the spot while his neighbour sustained severe injuries after their speeding bike rammed into a truck on Bandi Mahakaliamma temple street at Gavipuram on Monday.


The deceased is Yogesh, son of Devaiah and Shanthamma, residents of Srinagar who work as security guards. Yogesh was studying in Fourth Standard in a government school in Srinagar.


Police said the incident took place in the evening, when Yogesh’s neighbour Bharath, who runs a medical shop at the Health Centre took the boy along with him to bring water cans.

While overtaking a truck, Bharath who was speeding his bike lost control over it and rammed into the truck. Yogesh came under the wheels of the truck and died on the spot and Bharath suffered severe injuries. 


Basavanagudi traffic police rushed to the spot and arrested the truck driver for negligence, as the truck also was being driven in a reckless manner.
