Indie filmmakers get a platform to showcase work

BENGALURU: This first edition of The Bangalore Indie Film Fest 2017 is set to take place on Sunday that will focus on bringing “abstract, alternate, intelligent and thought-provoking story telling through independent films.”The fest is the handiwork of Eastern Light Films, a city based film production house and will feature 4 guest independent film-makers from various genres.

“Along with films, which is just one form of artistic expression, we are exhibiting an array of diverse art forms viz. nerve tickling standup comedy, live music and serious documentaries,” says Prataya Saha from Eastern Light Films. Prataya is a filmmaker who will also showcase his own work at the fest.

“When I was starting off a year and half back, my production value
suffered due to the absence of a high end camera or lighting equipment and I have faced a lot of flak due to the low budget outlook of my initial films. This was due to the lack of funds, although my films had a lot of good content,” he adds.

The fest aims to give other film-makers like him a platform to showcase their work without getting judged on their production quality and without being overshadowed by the money he or she has spent on the film.
The second edition of the Film Fest will take place immediately on November 19 which will feature eight
independent films.

Films to be shown at the fest

1.) Short films - Anna’s Weekend, Thirst, Talk Me Not, Dreamer 1, Dreamer 2 by Prataya Saha. Some of these have been screened at international film festivals.
2) Body Language by Prithesh Bhandary, a photographer, cinematographer and theater artist.
3) Together by Pallavi K. Shroff, a freelance filmmaker and photographer.
4) Pocket Money by Prashanth, a screen writer for visual projects who has just completed a direction course.
