Gang of 21 held for murder, abduction

Three men were kidnapped from RT Nagar, moved to a farmhouse in Gauribidanur where one of them was killed.

BENGALURU/KOLAR: A gang of 21 men was arrested on Tuesday for kidnapping three persons from RT Nagar and killing one of them while severely injuring the other two. The abductors reportedly forced the victims to strip before attacking them with sharp weapons in a farmhouse in Sigattehalli near Gauribidanur.

Gauribidanur police nabbed all suspects including the alleged kingpin Junaid Ahmed, a sheep seller from Shivajinagar. A financial dispute is said to be the motive behind the crime. The victims are Noor Ahmed (28), from JC Nagar who was killed on the spot, his friends Saddam alias Mubashir and Saleem Khan alias Kaliyaas, of Chamarajpet who are admitted in Victoria hospital. A senior cop said that the victims were kidnapped near V Care hospital on Devegowda Road. The gang which arrived in three Scorpio cars forced the victims into a car and drove off. An eyewitness called the police control room and RT Nagar and JC Nagar cops were tipped off. Police gathered information about the movements of the car which was heading towards Gouribidanuru. Based on tip off, cops raided a farm house in the wee hours and found Noor lying in a pool of blood while the two others had stab wounds. The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital while Junaid and his gang were arrested.

Dispute over debt

Preliminary investigations revealed that Junaid had bought some sheep from Noor but did not pay for it. Angered by this, Noor and his friends went to Junaid’s house and abused him while misbehaving with his family. Upset over this Junaid plotted revenge. He made a phone call to Noor. Junaid told him to come to V Care hospital to collect the cash he was owed. When Noor and his friends reached the spot they were abducted.

A special team tracked mobile phones to nab the gang and alerted Gauribidanur police about the same. A patrolling team spotted a Scorpio car with five men inside it. When they were stopped and grilled, the driver spilled the beans about the abduction and the location of the kidnappers. Then, the police raided the farm and nabbed the gang. The farm house belongs to Ashraf, a local.Javed Sultan, who runs a mobile service centre in JC Nagar told Express that Noor was his regular customer and often spent time at his shop. I was shocked to see his photo in a news channel and learn about what had happened, he said.
