Get rewarded for using apps

Coupons and offers from branded online stores for the hours you spend playing games among others, start-up Codemojo has it figured out!

CHENNAI: What if you got paid for playing games on your phone? Codemojo, a tech start-up, works on bringing this to reality. The company, founded by Vijay Krishna Ramanathan and Shoaib Mohammed, facilitates back-end interaction between apps and advertising brands in under 10 lines of code and 10 minutes of time, which will offer the goodies to the users so that they will remain with the brands.

“When the user gets coupons or discounts for playing a game or uploading a recipe, the brands capture first-time users, who keep coming back to get more vouchers. It’s a win-win situation,”explains Vijay.

For example, if you’re using a health app and you achieve the target to lose three kgs in a month, you will be offered coupons to buy sport shoes or something that ‘rewards’ you for your achievement.

The user will also have the option to pick from a bunch of coupons, all tracked from the system catering to the user’s preferences. Vijay adds, “For an app like Recipe Book, if you finish uploading five recipes, you will get vouchers from Big Basket or Fresh Menu.”

Speaking on identifying preferences, Shoaib says, “So far, this customisation and interaction happened manually where we decided every little detail. Now both advertising brands and apps can simply do it online.” However, he adds that brands don’t have to sit through the three month process of writing referral codes, creating algorithms and developing user interface. “We have them all pre-made and the brands and publishers just have to pick and customise it,” he shares.

Since users receive rewards for using the app, even premium customers will be able to use it, as advertisements are usually blocked for premium or paid app users. Even when there are season specific upgrades or offers for festivals, only the marketing teams will have to work with Codemojo and the technical part can be handled easily.

Codemojo will pay a part of the revenue they earn from brands to the apps for hosting them.
