Will soon expose identities of culprits behind Jayalalithaa's death: Ex-Assembly Speaker Pandian

P H Pandian and his son and former MP Manoj Pandian on Thursday raised several queries on the circumstances surrounding the death of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

CHENNAI: Firing fresh salvos at V K Sasikala-led faction of the AIADMK, one of the key figures in the rebel side who is also the former Tamil Nadu Speaker, P H Pandian and his son and former MP Manoj Pandian on Thursday raised several queries on the circumstances surrounding the death of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

Talking to reporters at the residence of rebel faction’s head and former Chief Minister O Panneerselvam here on Thursday, he said, “Our late leader Jayalalithaa was under the security cover of NSG but when she was in hospital the NSG cover was removed. Who issued the orders to remove high security cover?” He said that according to the Act governing NSG, dereliction of duty would warrant capital punishment.

Pandian, who is a criminal lawyer, claimed that Jayalaithaa was pushed down by somebody before she was ferried to Apollo Hospital on the night of September 22 last year.

Demanding answers to questions and suspicions about Jayalalithaa’s death, he asked who stopped the late leader from flying to a Singapore hospital even after the Centre dispatched a para-ambulance? He also questioned the absence of Dr Shantharam after he warned in May 2016 of the risk of suffering stroke if the course of treatment to Jayalalithaa continued.

Informing that he had been probing the circumstances of Jayalalithaa’s death, Pandian claimed, “I have zeroed in on the culprits. Soon I will expose their identity.”

His son and former MP Manoj Pandian asked the hospital authorities to explain who authorised the ‘medical cessation’ of Jaya. Manoj Pandian claimed that Jayalalithaa actually died on December 4 but the hospital announced her end came on December 5.
