DefExpo 2018: Bulletproof vehicle for anti-terror operations

The Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) has unveiled a 4x4 medium bulletproof vehicle (MBPV 4x4) for use in counter insurgency operations by armed forces.

CHENNAI: The Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) has unveiled a 4x4 medium bulletproof vehicle (MBPV 4x4) for use in counter insurgency operations by armed forces.The MBPV 4x4 wheel RH Drive is a heavy duty all-weather off-road mobility vehicle, specially designed for easy maneuvering, operability and maintainability. The advanced blast protected and bullet proof vehicle shields security personnel from small arms fire, hand grenades and fragment simulated projectiles, among other threats. The major objective being survivability, the MBPV 4x4 has a carrying capacity of 10+2 people and will be used by the security forces for counter-insurgency operations. 

Emphasising on the ‘Make in India’ goals of the expo, BEML chairman and managing director D K Hota said the newly launched MBPV 4x4 is built on an indigenously developed 4x4 chassis, showcasing the “commitment for realising the mission of Make in India through our own R&D and delivering world class products for the defence sector”.

The BEML is a major participant at the DefExpo 2018 showcasing defence equipment such as Armoured Recovery and Repair Vehicle (ARRV), BEML Tatra VP13S vehicle platform with super structure, trawl equipment for T-72 Tank, Aircraft Towing Tractor (ATT B10), command post vehicle and live demonstration of bulldozer and motor grader and other defence aggregates.Meanwhile, eight new products of the Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) were launched at its stall at the expo by Army Chief Gen Bipin Rawat.
