HYDERABAD: The forest department’s wildlife conservation wing is going to open a national zoological park at Warangal by 2013, to improve captive breeding of endangered animals and birds in the state.

“We have been improving the Warangal wildlife sanctuary since 2010, after the Central Zoo Authority ordered it to be converted it into a national park,” said KS Reddy, additional principal chief conservator of forests.

He added that the CZA, AP Zoological Parks and Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority have released `3 crore in 2011-12 for infrastructure development.

“About 40 per cent work of development work has been completed,” he said.
