Produced by Shajan Samuel and Babul Saha, ABC is a short film. The script written by Sonia Mackwani was selected out of 450 scripts in a national wide script writing competition. that showcases the dichotomy between two extreme yet simple individuals.
It is an empowering film which has the dexterity and optimism to resonate amongst all sections of audience.
“As humans, we do tend to forget that we are more than money. It can just take one human, just one moment, just one action to turn around the paths of millions,” says Samuel.
Talking about ABC, he tells us that the film is about a street boy who is a class four drop out, who lost his father and washes car for a living. He bumps in to an accomplished, confident young, female entrepreneur who drives a small car.
"The boy during one of the conversation remarks that he knows everything about cars, A for Accelerator, B Break C for Clutch, that is how the name ABC is derived," explains Samuel.
The film has several connotations but in short it can be encapsulated in one word – you don’t need a reason to smile. “ABC is just a sweet gentle reminder of this thought,” says Samuel.
Sruthi Hariharan, who has a few Kannada and Tamil films to her credit plays the lead role in ABC, while Shah Baaz Saleem plays the role of the child.
“A short film needs at least four to five lakh, generally and most filmmakers raise funds throughcrowd funding. ABC was made on a budget of seven lakh,” adds Samuel.
