Sleazy spas: Cops rescue 34 Thai and 31 Indian women in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: The Cyberabad police rescued 65 women, including 34 Thailand nationals, who were allegedly pushed into flesh trade at the spas and arrested 20 persons in Hyderabad on Sunday. The foreign nationals had arrived on tourist and business visa and were employed here.
The probe revealed that the organisers of the spas took passports of the Thailand nationals and forced them to indulge in sexual activities at the spas, offering them monthly salaries. They have all been living in Hyderabad for past three to six months with a valid visa.

In a major crackdown against the flesh trade in the spas, Cyberabad police raided 12 spas located near Cyberabad police commissionerate. The massive operation was conducted by forming six special teams under the supervision of Madhapur DCP Viswa Prasad. Late on Saturday night, the sleuths conducted simultaneous raids on Sapta, Tantra spa, V Spa, Mandara spa, Moh spa and Aura spa in Gachibowli, and Aura, Sapta, Tantra, Blizz, Moh and New Revive spas in Madhapur.

As many as 34 women hailing from Thailand, 21 from northeastern states in India, one from Punjab and nine women from Hyderabad, a few who were working as receptionists were all rescued from the spas. “The evidence like massage diapers, used and unused condoms, and other articles show that illegal activities were encouraged in the spas. Raids were conducted only after collecting evidence.

Most of these parlours have active prostitution rings operating from the premises or were offering services of a sexual nature. The victims who hail from Thailand, northeast and other states have been lured with the promise of a good job but were later forced into flesh trade. The women from Thailand had come to India on business and tourist visas, but are working here,” said Madhapur DCP Viswa Prasad.

The investigation revealed that one Dasari Siddartha (32), owner of Tripad Vernus and Healing Services Pvt Ltd in Banjara Hills is operating all the massage parlours that were raided. Siddartha, who was earlier arrested by Chembur police in 2016, for similar offence, has been bringing women from Thailand through a Kake, a Thailand-national living in Mumbai. Police said that Kake has been transporting women to Hyderabad promising employment on a monthly payment.

“Once these women reach the city, Siddartha takes them into their custody and seize their passports. He forces them into sexual activities at spas and massage parlours. His friends Sarfaraz Ali, Vinay, Ajay and several others assist him in the illegal activities. He has seven spas in Hyderabad and one in Bengaluru. His business partners Venkata Reddy and Balasubramanyam are absconding and teams are on the job to nab them,” said the DCP.

The material seized from the spas have been sent to forensic lab and further investigation is on. Cases have been booked against 20 persons under Sections 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 of Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act & Sec 370 (A) and 370 (A) (2) of IPC. The victims are also being sent for medical examination and will be sent to rescue homes after producing before executive magistrate.
