HYDERABAD: Telangana IT Minister KT Rama Rao on Saturday visited and consoled the family members of Srinivas Kuchibhotla who was shot dead in Kansas city of US on February 22. While at their Bachupally residence, the minister expressed hope that Srinivas’s body would reach Hyderabad by Monday night and said arrangements in this regard are being made by the government.

The 32-year-old Srinivas Kuchibhotla was killed and his colleague Alok Reddy Madasani was injured when a US Navy veteran opened fire at them in Austin’s Bar and Grill in Olathe, Kansas.

While speaking to the family members, KTR assured that the state government is taking measures to bring the body back by Monday night. “It is an unfortunate incident. No parents should undergo this kind of grief.

I spoke to External Affairs minister Sushma Swaraj’s OSD about getting back the body. His corpse would come to Hyderabad by Monday night,” the minister said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Ministry should raise voice against this incident and talk to the US government to ensure that these kind of incidents never repeat, KTR added.

“I lived in the US for eight years, but never faced such situation. It will now become a trend. It is my request to all the Indians in the US to stay safe and hope positive environment will develop there soon,” KTR shared after meeting Srinivas’s parents.

The minister also spoke to the parents of Alok Reddy, another victim of the shooting.
“Alok’s condition is stable now and I pray for his fast recovery,” he said.
Transport minister Mahender Reddy, MPs Malla Reddy and Balka Suman and Sambhipur MLC Raju, also accompanied the minister.
