Mumbai NGO alerted local cops

Fourteen-year-old Poornima Sai, who went missing from her home in Hyderabad 40 days, was traced to Mumbai on Sunday.

HYDERABAD: Fourteen-year-old Poornima Sai, who went missing from her home in Hyderabad 40 days, was traced to Mumbai on Sunday. It may be recalled that 14 special teams had been formed to find the girl. It was the NGO in Mumbai which alerted the Hyderabad police that a girl from the city had admitted herself there.

According to Cyberabad police, Poornima had joined Bal Sudhar Grah in Dadar in Mumbai, claiming she was from Tukaramgate in Secunderabad.

“The girl reportedly reached Mumbai on June 11 and stayed at the NGO under the name Anika Sree. The NGO lodged a complaint with Bhoiwada police station in Dadar, after which they were notified by Bachupally police which is helping to bring her back,” said a senior cop adding that Poornima would be brought back to city by Monday. She went missing on June 7.
