Power outage for four hours  hits services at Osmania General Hospital

Osmania General Hospital was once again plunged into darkness on Tuesday for four hours.

HYDERABAD: Osmania General Hospital was once again plunged into darkness on Tuesday for four hours. Nurses and other staff in the hospital in one of the wards, where the sign boards could not be read because of the dark passageways, were seen using torch lights to check case sheets and attending patients.
Elective surgeries were postponed and medical services were affected at the hospital due to power outage. The power supply was disrupted as wires became defunct.

While a part of the main hospital had no power for close to four hours, there was interrupted power supply in other wards.  “It has been fluctuating a lot today. Power went off at least five times,” said a family member of a burn victim. The power failure was due to short circuit.

Superintendent of the hospital Dr GVS Moorthy said that he was informed of the problem at around 2.30 p.m and steps were taken to fix it. The power was finally restored at 6.30 p.m.
